Exploring practical, positive applications of AI to support teachers and transform classroom practice.
As part of an ongoing commitment to championing emerging technologies in education, I recently collaborated with Leanne Howe (Teaching and Learning Manager) to deliver a training session for Digital Leads across Swansea's Primary and Comprehensive Schools.
The focus of the session was on how AI can be used to save time and enhance resource creation, specifically through tools embedded within platforms like Canva, TeacherMatic and ChatGPT. Together, we explored practical ways that AI can assist teachers in streamlining their workflow, designing classroom materials more efficiently, and creating engaging resources without adding to workload pressures.
The session emphasised positive, practical use cases of AI, highlighting how these technologies can support teachers — not replace them — enabling more time for personalised teaching, student engagement, and curriculum development.
Through demonstrations, real-world examples, and collaborative discussion, the training showed how emerging technologies, when used thoughtfully, can enhance creativity, increase accessibility, and reduce barriers across classrooms.
This training forms part of a wider effort to embed AI meaningfully and responsibly within education, helping schools across Swansea to future-proof teaching and learning through practical, accessible innovation.
