Just BREATHE Campaign
Using VR to reduce exam anxiety, improve confidence, and support wellbeing through immersive preparation experiences.
In collaboration with Leanne Howe (Teaching and Learning Manager) and Josh Jordan (Learner Engagement and Personal Development Lead), this project explores how virtual reality (VR) can be used to support learner wellbeing during exam season.
This project is currently at the initial plannin stages but we plan to introduce VR headsets as a tool for helping students manage exam-related anxiety. Through immersive experiences, learners will be able to familiarise themselves with real exam environments ahead of the assessment day — reducing the fear of the unknown and building emotional resilience.
We will be using PolyCam to scan an exam room environment in 3D, alongside 360° photography and video capture to authentically recreate the sights, sounds, and layout of the exam setting. Students will be able to walk into a virtual version of their exam hall, find their seat, and mentally rehearse the experience, helping to normalise the environment and boost confidence.
In addition to environment walkthroughs, wellbeing-specific VR headsets will offer guided relaxation sessions, providing short, structured revision breaks designed to encourage calmness and focus.
This project aligns with the College’s broader wellbeing initiatives, and reflects a wider commitment to digital transformation in both academic and pastoral support. By seeking to embed immersive technology into the student experience, we are creating more accessible, inclusive, and supportive pathways to success — impacting not just learning outcomes, but mental wellbeing, engagement, and independent study skills.
